Hurray for Natalie!

by Marcia Richardson

Our new produce lead is Natalie. Many of you have already met her. She has been working at the Co-op for over a year, usually on Sundays. She is now here five days a week, doing even more to improve our produce department. During her interview, she told us of several ideas she has for making our produce department more user-friendly, as well as, improving the aesthetic value. We will let her surprise us with her plans and watch as they unfold. Natalie is very passionate about offering high quality produce and buying local veggies for our customers as often as possible. The staff applauds Natalie for already doing an excellent job with such a tough department.

Co-op Welcomes New General Manager

by Tracy Erfling

The Board of Directors is delighted to announce the hire of a new general manager to our beloved Co-op. Matthew Stanley will start on April 1st after moving with his girlfriend, Holly, from Ocean Beach People’s Food Co-op in San Diego, CA. The board chose Matthew as we were impressed with his experience and enthusiasm for natural foods and the cooperative movement. He was a candidate we were certain would fit the current staff and membership expectations as far as his presence within the store and community. Matthew was identified by his former general manager as someone worth mentoring for a general manager position. She was impressed and confident in his skills as a leader. We were also charmed by his genuine kindness and friendly disposition. We know you will agree that he is a catch for the Co-op and Astoria. Stop by and welcome Matthew yourself. I know he will be happy to meet you.
